The Fifteen Keys Hotel
A town house on Via Urbana in Monti, with a little courtyard, a homely breakfast room and calm, pale rooms after the baroque outside.
Morning on Via Urbana sounds like shutters going up and cups on saucers. The Fifteen Keys sits in a town house on this street, one of the nicest in Monti, with a little courtyard out back and breakfast served in a room that feels more domestic than hotel.
The interiors are light and tidy, with a Nordic feel that rests the eyes after hours of gilded churches. The Colosseum and the Forum are a short walk downhill.

Why we chose The Fifteen Keys Hotel
This is our pick for living in a real Roman neighbourhood without renting an apartment. Monti has wine bars, small trattorias and vintage shops on every corner, and the money you save on a grand lobby goes on dinner.
Rooms are on the small side, and there is no restaurant or bar in the building. If you want a hotel to linger in during the day, or room service at night, look elsewhere.
What you get
