Horti 14 Borgo Trastevere Hotel
Through a plain street door and into a leafy garden full of trees and art, where breakfast is served in the calmest corner of Trastevere.
The entrance gives nothing away. Then the door closes behind you and there is a wide green garden, with trees, sculpture and a silence you would not expect in Trastevere. Breakfast happens out here.
Horti 14 lies in the southern, residential end of the district, towards the Tiber and the Porta Portese market. The lively piazzas are close enough for dinner and far enough for sleep.

Picolo’s verdict
Why we chose Horti 14 Borgo Trastevere Hotel
Trastevere is the most atmospheric place to eat in Rome, and one of the noisiest places to sleep. Horti 14 solves that. You get the evenings in the lanes and a quiet garden to come back to.
It takes about ten minutes on foot to reach the heart of Trastevere and roughly twenty to the historic centre. If you dislike walking, or want the Pantheon outside your window, this is the wrong base.
