Hotel Il Convento
A small hotel in the steep, washing-hung lanes of the Spanish Quarter, with Via Toledo at the bottom of the street and a trattoria by the door.
Laundry hangs across the alley, a scooter squeezes past and someone calls down from a balcony. This is the Quartieri Spagnoli, the tight grid of lanes built for Spanish soldiers in the 16th century, and Il Convento sits right in it.
The hotel is small, and breakfast is included in the price. Via Toledo, the main shopping street, is at the foot of the lanes, and from there you can walk to Piazza del Plebiscito or down to Molo Beverello for the ferries.

Picolo’s verdict
Why we chose Hotel Il Convento
We chose it as our value pick. You get a central base between the old town, the shops and the port without paying seafront prices, and a personal welcome. Couples and anyone who likes to explore on foot will get the most out of it.
The lanes are narrow, busy and loud with scooters, and rooms are on the small side. If you want space, calm or a view, look at Chiaia or the seafront instead. The reward here is the simple trattorias and street life right outside.
