Park Hyatt Milano
Walk out of the lobby and within a minute you are under the glass roof of the Galleria, with the Duomo square just beyond it.
Step out of the door and the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, the nineteenth-century shopping arcade under its iron and glass roof, is right there. The cathedral and its square lie on the far side, and La Scala on the near one.
Inside, the old banking hall has been turned into pale stone and soft tones, with no gilt in sight. The centrepiece is the atrium, where lunch is served beneath a glass dome, a quiet room in the most crowded corner of Milan.

Picolo’s verdict
Why we chose Park Hyatt Milano
We chose Park Hyatt for two things it does better than most: an address you cannot beat for a first visit, and rooms with real space, including bathrooms built for lingering. It runs smoothly and predictably.
The square outside never empties, and for some that gets tiring after a day or two. If you want character, small surprises or a neighbourhood feel, Brera or Tortona will suit you better than the very centre.
What you get
- Former bank building beside the Galleria
- Lunch in the glass-domed atrium
- Spacious rooms with large bathrooms
- Grand hotel service
- Light-filled atrium at the centre
