Magna Pars l'Hotel à Parfum
Each suite carries its own scent and its own name, in a former perfume factory where a leafy garden hides behind a plain street front.
Tortona is the old industrial district south-west of the centre, now home to photo studios, showrooms and the busiest events of Milan's design week each April. On Via Forcella, the family behind this hotel once made perfume.
Their factory now holds suites, each named after a fragrance that you will also smell in the room, from the linen to the bathroom. At the heart of the building, out of sight from the street, you find a tree-shaded garden and a quiet library. The suites are generous, and the house feels more like a private residence than a hotel.

Picolo’s verdict
Why we chose Magna Pars l'Hotel à Parfum
We chose Magna Pars for readers who like a hotel with a single clear idea, carried out well. The suites are spacious and silent, and the location works for design week and for evenings by the Navigli canals.
The centre is not on your doorstep, so expect to walk or use the Metro. Outside design week the area can feel quiet in the daytime, which is a plus for some and a drawback for others.
