Hotel Viu Milan
A swim on the roof with Milan spread out around you, in a residential corner where the evenings are quiet and the neighbours are local.
Via Aristotile Fioravanti lies a little west of Porta Nuova, in a district where people live rather than visit. The hotel stands out with a facade covered in plants, and the Cimitero Monumentale, Milan's vast and ornate cemetery, is just down the street.
The real prize is on the roof: a pool with views over the city, which is rare in Milan. Below, the rooms are full of daylight, with timber floors and high windows, and the restaurant on the ground floor is ambitious.

Picolo’s verdict
Why we chose Hotel Viu Milan
We chose Viu for travellers who want fresh, thoughtful design and a pool in the sky, and who are happy to stay outside the historic centre. The food downstairs is a reason to stay in for dinner.
You will need the Metro or a fifteen-minute walk to reach Corso Como, and further for the Duomo. If you want to step straight out among the sights, a hotel in the centre will suit you better.
