The Reykjavik EDITION
Harpa’s glass on one side, the harbour and Esja on the other: the most modern of the city’s luxury hotels, with a rooftop bar for the late light.
Wake up, open the curtains and the flat-topped mountain across the bay is Esja, often with snow on it long after the city has thawed. The EDITION stands next to Harpa, the glass concert hall, and many of its rooms are turned towards the water.
Inside it is calm and grown-up: generous rooms in grey and warm brown, little that is there for show. The energy is saved for later. There is a bar on the roof, a club in the basement and a spa for the hours in between.

Picolo’s verdict
Why we chose The Reykjavik EDITION
If you want a big-city hotel in Reykjavik, this is the one. The location by Harpa and the harbour is central without being in the bar streets, and the rooftop bar gives you somewhere to go when it is too cold to wander.
It is among the most expensive hotels in town, and the style is international rather than Icelandic. Travellers who came for the small-town warmth of Reykjavik may prefer the old-town hotels. Look for offers outside the summer months.

Open in MapsQuestions about The Reykjavik EDITION
Does The Reykjavik EDITION have a spa?
Yes. The hotel has a spa, along with a rooftop bar and a basement club, which makes it one of the few places in the city where evenings can stay in the building.
Is The Reykjavik EDITION near Harpa?
It stands right beside Harpa on the harbourfront, so concerts are a couple of minutes away. The old town and Laugavegur are a short walk inland.
Is The Reykjavik EDITION expensive?
It is among the priciest hotels in Reykjavik. Rates tend to soften outside summer, so travelling in shoulder season or winter can make it easier on the budget.
