Anantara New York Palace Budapest
Breakfast under the gilded ceilings of the New York Café, in a room most visitors only see from the end of a queue.
The queue for the New York Café often stretches along the pavement, and guests simply walk past it. Inside, marble columns, gilding and painted ceilings make it one of the most famous rooms in Budapest, and it is where your day starts.
Upstairs, the hotel keeps up the same sense of occasion, with rooms dressed in gold tones and heavy drapes and a spa below ground. Trams pass the door on the Grand Boulevard, which makes getting around the city simple.

Picolo’s verdict
Why we chose Anantara New York Palace Budapest
We chose the Anantara for travellers who want the full grand-hotel experience and a famous café as their breakfast room. Few places in Budapest feel this opulent from the moment you arrive.
The ring road outside is practical but not pretty, and the Basilica is around a quarter of an hour away on foot. If you prefer understated design or want the river at your door, look elsewhere.
What you get
