Picolo recommends · Hotel in Agios Nikolaos, Crete, Greece
Daios Cove
Rooms stacked up a steep hillside above a small bay of its own, so the view from your terrace is mostly water.
From the terrace you look straight down the slope to a small bay with clear water and a strip of sand. Daios Cove is built into the hillside on the east of Crete, close to Agios Nikolaos, and the bay below belongs to the hotel.
Many of the rooms and villas come with a pool of their own, and the resort has a spa and several places to eat. Lifts and buggies carry you between the levels, which is welcome on a hot afternoon.

Picolo’s verdict
Why we chose Daios Cove
We picked it for privacy. Between your own pool and a beach shared only with other guests, it is easy to spend days without leaving, and the Mirabello coast has calm water for much of the season.
The hillside is steep, so walking around the resort means stairs and waiting for buggies. It also sits outside town, and if you want tavernas and evening walks you will rely on taxis to Agios Nikolaos.
