A smaller, hushed hotel next to Grande Bretagne, with dark wood, marble bathrooms and dinner facing the Acropolis.
Step off Syntagma Square into King George and the noise falls away. The corridors are calm, the rooms are dressed in dark timber and polished marble, and the staff have time to learn who you are.
At the top of the building the restaurant looks across at the Acropolis. The bigger Grande Bretagne is next door under the same owners, so its spa and pool are a short walk away when you want them.

Why we chose King George
We like it as the quieter way to stay on Syntagma. You get the address, the view and the Metro on the doorstep, without the size and bustle of the grand hotel beside it.
It is a calm house, and the evenings reflect that. Travellers who want a lively bar scene inside the hotel, or a pool in their own building, will find more of both next door or elsewhere.
