Electra Palace Athens
A rooftop pool with the Parthenon straight ahead, on a tree-lined street at the quiet end of Plaka.
Swim to the edge of the pool on the roof and the Parthenon fills the view in front of you. Below, the tiled roofs of Plaka slope away towards the old town, and the restaurant up here serves breakfast in the morning and dinner after dark.
The hotel stands on Nikodimou Street, in a part of Plaka with wider streets and trees rather than tight taverna alleys. You can walk to the sights and still sleep away from the evening crowds.

Picolo’s verdict
Why we chose Electra Palace Athens
We think it is the easiest Plaka hotel for families. Rooms have space, the pool is a real reward after a hot day of ruins, and almost everything worth seeing is within walking distance.
The decor is traditional and on the heavy side, which some will love and others will find dated. If you are looking for fresh design or a young, social crowd, Athens has better options.
