Hotel El Pilar Andalucia
A bright courtyard in the white old town of Estepona, with tapas squares outside the door and La Rada beach a short stroll away.
Step out after dark and the lanes of the old town fill with tables. Hotel El Pilar sits in the middle of Estepona’s historic centre, a tangle of whitewashed streets and flower pots, with La Rada beach and the harbour close by.
The hotel is built around a bright courtyard and has several bars and restaurants of its own, so you can eat in when the evening walk ends. It also rents out bikes, which suit the flat promenade along the sea.

Picolo’s verdict
Why we chose Hotel El Pilar Andalucia
We chose El Pilar for its location in a real Andalusian town rather than a resort strip. You get the old town at night, the beach by day and guest ratings that are among the best on this part of the coast.
It is far from Gibraltar, so if the Rock is your main reason for coming, a hotel nearer the border saves a lot of driving. Old town streets can also be lively in the evening, which is part of the appeal but not for everyone.
