Picolo recommends · Hotel in Munich, Bavaria
The Charles
Spacious, light rooms looking out over the trees of the Old Botanical Garden, and a pool big enough to save a rainy day.
From many of the windows you look into treetops rather than traffic. The Charles stands beside the Old Botanical Garden, a small green park between the main station and the museums of the Kunstareal.
Rooms are generous and decorated in soft, pale tones, which makes a real difference when you are travelling with children. Downstairs there is a spa and a pool that ranks among the largest of any hotel in central Munich.

Picolo’s verdict
Why we chose The Charles
This is our family choice in Munich. Space, a big pool and the station around the corner make life easier with children, and it works just as well for couples who want luxury away from the busiest streets.
You are not in the old town. Marienplatz is about ten minutes’ walk, and the area around the station is more functional than pretty. If you want to step straight out among the sights, choose a hotel in the Altstadt.
