Picolo recommends · Hotel in Hamburg, Germany
The Westin
A hotel inside Hamburg's famous concert hall, where container ships glide along the Elbe right under your window.
A horn sounds on the river, and a container ship the size of a street block moves slowly past beneath the glass. From these rooms high in the Elbphilharmonie you see the cranes, the port and the rooftops of the city all at once.
The hotel takes up the floors above the concert hall and the Plaza, the open viewing level halfway up the building. Wide windows are the point of every room, and on a clear evening the lights of the port stretch far down the river.

Why we chose The Westin
No other hotel in Hamburg gives you this view, or the chance to take the lift down to a concert. If you want a stay you will talk about afterwards, this is the one.
The rooms are smart but feel more like an international chain than the building outside suggests. The nearest U-Bahn is a fair walk away, which you will notice on a wet day.
What you get
- Floor-to-ceiling views over the Elbe
- Inside the Elbphilharmonie
- Ships passing below the windows
- Restaurant and bar
- Concierge help with concert tickets
