Orania.Berlin
Tall windows wrap the corner of Oranienplatz, and on several evenings a week jazz or classical music drifts out of the ground-floor salon.
Sit in the salon on a concert night and the music fills a room lined with tall windows. Orania occupies a corner building on Oranienplatz, at the point where Oranienstraße sets off with its bars and Turkish kitchens.
The restaurant has made its name with Peking duck, and the salon doubles as the place locals stop for a first drink of the night. You get serious design and good beds in the middle of old Kreuzberg, rather than looking in from outside.

Picolo’s verdict
Why we chose Orania.Berlin
We chose Orania because it lets you live in Kreuzberg without giving up comfort. The food is a reason to stay in for one evening, and the music turns the lobby into the best room in the house.
Oranienstraße stays loud until late, and the museums in Mitte are roughly fifteen minutes by train from Moritzplatz. Light sleepers and anyone set on a week of sightseeing in Mitte should weigh that up.
