Hotel Oderberger
Columns and arches rise over a pool that still fills with swimmers, inside a public bath brought back to life in Prenzlauer Berg.
Early in the day, before the doors open to the public, hotel guests have the old pool hall to themselves, under columns and arches. The hotel is built into Stadtbad Oderberger, a city bath that stood empty for decades.
Around it is one of Berlin’s most liveable neighbourhoods. Mauerpark and its Sunday flea market are close by, Kollwitzplatz has cafés and a playground, and the tram takes you to Alexanderplatz in about fifteen minutes.

Picolo’s verdict
Why we chose Hotel Oderberger
We chose it for families and anyone who wants to feel part of a real Berlin neighbourhood. A historic pool under your hotel is a rare thing, and rates are gentler than in Mitte.
Rooms are calm but simple, and Ku’damm and the western districts are a long way off. There are no clubs on the doorstep either, so night owls may prefer Friedrichshain or Kreuzberg.
