Anantara Plaza Nice Hotel
On the roof, Place Masséna lights up on one side and the Baie des Anges on the other, with a strip of park between you and the sea.
Late in the day the lift takes you to the roof, where the bar and restaurant look two ways: down to Place Masséna and its chequered paving, and out over the Jardin Albert 1er to the water. It is one of the better places in town to watch the evening arrive.
Below, the old building has been given a calm, bright interior, and the rooms are bigger than you usually find in central Nice. Trams on both lines stop at Place Masséna round the corner, so you rarely need a taxi.

Why we chose Anantara Plaza Nice Hotel
For a first trip to Nice we find it hard to beat. You sit between the old town, the shopping streets and the seafront, so every day starts on foot, and the rooftop gives you somewhere good to finish it.
There is a road and a park between you and the water, so this is not a beach hotel. If you want to hear the sea from your bed or step straight onto the pebbles, choose somewhere on the promenade.
What you get
- Rooftop bar with views of the bay
- Restaurant on the roof
- Rooms larger than the Nice norm
- Jardin Albert 1er across the street

How close is Anantara Plaza Nice to the beach?
The promenade and the beach are on the far side of the Jardin Albert 1er, a short walk through the park. The hotel itself is on Avenue de Verdun, not on the seafront.
Does Anantara Plaza Nice have a rooftop bar?
Yes. The roof has both a bar and a restaurant, looking down on Place Masséna and out to the bay, which makes it a strong choice for an evening drink.
Is Anantara Plaza Nice a good base without a car?
Very. Both tram lines stop at nearby Place Masséna, and the old town, the seafront and the main shopping streets are all within walking distance.
