Tokoriki Island Resort

  • Adults only
  • Beachfront bures
  • Sunsets
  • Plunge pools
  • Seclusion

Step off the terrace onto the sand and watch the sun go down straight ahead, on an island at the very edge of the Mamanucas.

The beach on Tokoriki faces west, so the evening show is the main event. The bures, as Fijian bungalows are called, stand directly on the sand, and a number of them come with a small pool of their own.

This is the last island out in the group, a fair distance from the mainland. Children are not allowed, and the resort ranks among the calmest in the country, with little to do beyond swimming, reading and watching the light change.

Picolo’s verdict

Why we chose Tokoriki Island Resort

We picked Tokoriki for couples who want to switch off completely. The sunsets are the best in the Mamanucas, and the absence of children and crowds gives the place real calm.

Getting there takes longer than to the inner islands, and the boat transfer can be rough. If you get restless without activities or other restaurants nearby, a week here may feel long.

What you get

  • Bures directly on the beach
  • Small private pools in several bures
  • West-facing beach for sunset
  • Adults only
  • Seaplane or helicopter transfers possible
