Kempinski Soma Bay
A jetty runs out over the turquoise shallows to the reef, and at night the only light over the desert comes from the stars.
Soma Bay is a peninsula south of Hurghada with desert on one side and the Red Sea on the other. The Kempinski sits on its beach with wide pools, a spa and rooms that look out over the water.
From the jetty you can step straight onto the reef, and golfers have a course nearby. The rest of the time is about doing very little: swimming, reading, eating well and watching the light change over the sea.

Picolo’s verdict
Why we chose Kempinski Soma Bay
We chose it for couples and families who want luxury and space with real quiet around them. It is one of the better places on this coast for a long stay, where the days can blur into each other.
Soma Bay is isolated, and there is little to do beyond the resort. Book all-inclusive or half board, and choose elsewhere if you want to walk out to restaurants, shops or a town in the evening.

Is there anything to do near Kempinski Soma Bay?
Very little outside the hotel, apart from the reef, water sports and a golf course nearby. That is the point for most guests, who come for peace rather than nightlife.
Should I book all-inclusive at Kempinski Soma Bay?
All-inclusive or half board is a sensible choice, as there are few places to eat beyond the resort and Soma Bay is a long way from Hurghada town.
Is Kempinski Soma Bay good for a long stay?
Yes. Space, quiet and a calm daily rhythm make it well suited to longer winter holidays as well as a classic week by the sea.
