The Westin Puntacana Resort
Land in the morning and be in the sea before lunch: a low-rise hotel on the shore of an estate with golf, a marina and several beaches.
The drive from the terminal is over almost before the air conditioning has kicked in. The Westin is spread out low along the coast, so the pool and the sea are the first things you see from most of the grounds, with a stretch of beach set aside for guests.
Around it lies Puntacana Resort & Club, a large private estate with golf courses, a marina and more beaches to explore. It gives you a sense of space that the big all-inclusive strips further north rarely manage.

Picolo’s verdict
Why we chose The Westin Puntacana Resort
We like it for a first trip to the Dominican Republic. The short transfer saves the first and last day of your holiday, and the estate gives you enough golf, boats and beach to fill a week without feeling stuck.
This is not an all-inclusive by default. Meals, drinks and activities are paid for as you go, which adds up quickly. If you want one price and no bills, an all-inclusive further up the coast is a better fit.
