Casa de Campo Resort and Villas
A golf cart, a sea breeze and Teeth of the Dog running along the cliffs: at Casa de Campo the resort is the destination.
You arrive, collect the keys to a golf cart and drive off along palm-lined lanes. That is how most guests move around Casa de Campo, an estate on the south-east coast large enough to hold several golf courses, a marina, stables and a beach of its own.
The best-known course, Teeth of the Dog, follows the rocky shore, with several holes right above the Caribbean. Up on the hill above the Chavón river sits Altos de Chavón, a stone village built to look like the Mediterranean, with views worth the trip at the end of the day.

Picolo’s verdict
Why we chose Casa de Campo Resort and Villas
For golfers, this is the strongest address in the Dominican Republic. It also works well for families and groups, since there is enough here to fill a week without leaving the gates: sailing, riding, tennis, the beach at Minitas and evenings up in Altos de Chavón.
The scale is the catch. Distances inside the estate are long, so plan on a golf cart or the resort shuttle for most trips. If you want to walk out of your room and onto the sand, a smaller beach hotel will suit you better.

How do you get around Casa de Campo?
Most guests rent a golf cart for their stay, and the resort also runs a shuttle. Distances between the beach, the marina and the golf courses are too long to walk comfortably in the heat.
Is Casa de Campo good for families?
Yes. There is enough to keep children and teenagers busy, from the beach at Minitas to riding and water sports, and villas give larger families more space than a standard room.
Is Altos de Chavón part of Casa de Campo?
Yes. The stone village lies inside the estate on a hill above the Chavón river, with restaurants, shops and an amphitheatre. It is at its best in the early evening.
