Almanac X Alcron Prague
Marble, curves and polished brass in a lobby that has been welcoming guests since the interwar years, a few steps from Wenceslas Square.
Step in from Štěpánská and the noise of the New Town drops away behind revolving glass. The lobby keeps its marble and its rounded lines from the decades when the Alcron was where Prague went to be seen, and the mood is calm rather than nostalgic.
Upstairs, the rooms have been brought up to date with a light touch, so the thirties are there in the shapes and materials without the place feeling like an exhibit. Wenceslas Square is round the corner, with theatres, restaurants and shops in every direction.

Picolo’s verdict
Why we chose Almanac X Alcron Prague
We picked the Alcron for its history and its address. It gives you a hotel with a real story in the liveliest part of the New Town, at prices that stay well below the grand riverside names.
If you want the Old Town and Charles Bridge outside your window, this is the wrong side of town. Expect a fifteen-minute walk to reach them, and a busier, more commercial street scene around the hotel.
What you get
- Art deco building in use as a hotel since the interwar years
- Preserved marble lobby
- Rooms updated in a thirties spirit
- Restaurants and theatres of the New Town nearby
- Side street off Wenceslas Square
A day at Almanac X Alcron Prague

- Afternoon
- Across to the Old Town and the river before the day groups thin out.
