Hotel Ambasador
A swim on the roof with the harbour, the ferries and the islands spread out below, and the old town a short walk along the water.
From the roof terrace, Split looks like a map: the harbour below, the ferries heading out, the islands lined up on the horizon. Hotel Ambasador stands on the waterfront west of the Riva, the palm-lined promenade in front of the palace.
Inside, everything is light and clean-lined, with modern rooms and a spa for slow afternoons. Walk out of the back and the paths up Marjan, the wooded hill on the end of the peninsula, begin almost at once.

Why we chose Hotel Ambasador
Ambasador is our design choice in Split. It gives you a polished, contemporary hotel by the water while keeping the palace a few minutes' walk away, a combination that is hard to find in the old town itself.
There is no beach outside the door, so sunbathing happens on the roof or on Marjan. Travellers who want to sleep among Roman stone and old lanes will find it too modern and a little removed from that atmosphere.
What you get
- Rooftop pool with harbour views
- Spa
- Roof terrace facing the islands
- Modern, bright rooms
- Marjan trails right behind
A day at Hotel Ambasador
- Morning
- An early walk up Marjan before the sun gets strong.
- Midday
- A swim at one of the quiet coves on the far side of the hill.
- Afternoon
- Spa time, then a slow stroll into the old town.
- Evening
- A drink on the roof as the ferries light up in the harbour.

Does Hotel Ambasador have a pool?
Yes. The pool is on the rooftop terrace, with views across the harbour towards the islands, and there is a spa as well.
Is Hotel Ambasador near a beach?
Not directly. There is no beach in front of the hotel, but quieter swimming spots on Marjan are within walking distance, and Bačvice lies on the other side of town.
How far is Hotel Ambasador from Diocletian's Palace?
About five minutes on foot along the waterfront, so you can stay by the sea and still reach the old town easily.
