Txai Resort Itacaré

  • Beach
  • Rainforest
  • Bungalows
  • Spa
  • Waterfall trips

Bungalows on a green hillside above a long, empty beach, with coconut palms below and the Atlantic rainforest climbing up behind you.

The palms were planted for coconuts long before anyone thought of guests. Today the old plantation south of Itacaré is a resort, with bungalows spread up the slope and a wide beach below that rarely feels crowded.

Behind the rooms the Atlantic rainforest takes over. The resort organises outings to waterfalls and to beaches you would struggle to reach alone, and when you come back there is a spa waiting.

Picolo’s verdict

Why we chose Txai Resort Itacaré

We picked Txai for the setting. Few resorts in Brazil give you a beach this long with nothing but forest around it, and the bungalows make it feel more like a stay in nature than a beach hotel.

Getting here takes effort: a flight to Ilhéus, then a drive along the coast. The Atlantic is not always gentle on this stretch, so ask the staff where to swim. If you want nightlife or short transfers, choose somewhere else.

What you get

  • Long beach in front of the resort
  • Former coconut plantation with rainforest behind
  • Bungalows on the hillside
