La Bougainvillea Hotel and Villas
Breakfast on the terrace by the pool, the sea right behind it, and a beach of its own a few steps further down.
The dining terrace sits beside the pool, and behind it there is nothing but sea. La Bougainvillea is a small beach hotel at North Palmetto Point, roughly halfway down Eleuthera, with its own stretch of sand and a bar right on it.
Rooms and villas face the water, and the restaurant covers breakfast, lunch and dinner, so you never have to get in the car unless you want to. Governor’s Harbour, the island’s main town, is a short drive away.

Picolo’s verdict
Why we chose La Bougainvillea Hotel and Villas
We chose La Bougainvillea for couples who want a small, well-run beach hotel without Harbour Island prices. You get a beach, a pool and a restaurant on site, and the location in the middle of the island makes day trips north and south easy.
Eleuthera is long, and this is not a place you explore on foot, so plan on a hire car. It is a simple, relaxed hotel rather than a luxury resort, and anyone after spa days and fine dining will find more on Harbour Island.
