Hotel Motto
Brass, mirrors and dark walls give this Mariahilf hotel the feel of Paris, with a glass-walled restaurant on the roof.
Motto is on a quiet side street just off Mariahilfer Strasse, Vienna's long shopping street in the 6th district. Inside, the look is Paris rather than Vienna: deep colours, polished brass, mirrors and a different wallpaper on each floor.
The top floor is given over to a glass-walled restaurant and bar with views across the rooftops. The Ring and the museums are a walk or a few metro stops away, and the neighbourhood is full of cafés and shops.

Picolo’s verdict
Why we chose Hotel Motto
Motto is the design choice for couples who want personality and a lower bill than the Ring hotels. Rooms are thoughtfully furnished, and the rooftop gives you a memorable first evening without leaving the building.
Rooms are on the small side, and you are some way from the Innere Stadt. If the coffee houses and Opera are the main reason for your trip, you will spend more time getting there.
