Picolo recommends · Hotel in Perth, Western Australia
COMO The Treasury
Old government offices in sandstone and brick, now holding some of the largest and quietest hotel rooms in Perth.
The corridors still carry the weight of the civil servants who once worked here. The hotel is spread through the State Buildings, a cluster of restored government buildings in the middle of Perth, close to the river and the shopping streets.
The rooms are big and pale and very quiet, and there is a spa and a pool for slow mornings. Up on the roof, the restaurant looks out over the city towards the Swan River.

Picolo’s verdict
Why we chose COMO The Treasury
For an elegant base in Perth, this is our pick. The heritage setting gives it more character than the glass towers nearby, and the calm rooms are a good place to recover from the long flight west.
Perth is far from the rest of Australia, and reaching it usually means a separate flight. City hotels this polished come at a price, and travellers who want a beach on the doorstep may prefer Cottesloe or Scarborough.
