Capella Sydney
Behind thick sandstone walls a few streets from the harbour, the city noise fades and a pool waits under a glass roof.
Step in from the traffic and the sound drops away. The sandstone was laid in the early 1900s for government offices, and the building still has that solid, unhurried feel, now with pale, calm rooms inside.
Daylight falls through a glass ceiling onto the indoor pool, and the spa takes up a good part of the building. Outside, the harbour, the Opera House and the Royal Botanic Garden are all a short stroll away.

Picolo’s verdict
Why we chose Capella Sydney
We chose Capella for travellers who want the centre without the bustle that usually comes with it. The service is attentive, the rooms are restful, and the location puts the harbour within easy reach.
Do not come for the water view. Most rooms look onto the city rather than the harbour, so if waking up to the Opera House matters, look at Park Hyatt instead.
