Picolo recommends · Hotel in Meads Bay, Anguilla
Malliouhana
Breakfast on a terrace high above Meads Bay, with the whole curve of the beach laid out below and a staircase down to the sand.
From the terrace you look along the full length of Meads Bay, pale sand and turquoise water, before you have finished your first coffee. Malliouhana stands on the rocks at the far end of the beach, and a flight of steps takes you straight down to it.
This is one of Anguilla's long-established hotels, and Auberge now runs it. Expect a pool, a spa and a restaurant looking out to sea, with a calm, grown-up atmosphere rather than a party.

Picolo’s verdict
Why we chose Malliouhana
We chose Malliouhana for the view and the sense of history. Few places on the island give you a cliff-top outlook and, at the same time, one of its best beaches just below the room.
The calm is the point, so families looking for clubs and activities will find more elsewhere on Meads Bay. The climb back up from the beach can also be hard work for anyone with bad knees.

Does Malliouhana have beach access?
Yes. Steps lead from the hotel down to Meads Bay, so the sand is only moments from the terrace and the pool.
Who runs Malliouhana in Anguilla?
Malliouhana is part of the Auberge collection today. It has long been one of the island's classic addresses, and the new management kept its cliff-top setting at the centre.
Is Malliouhana a good choice for couples?
Very much so. The mood is quiet and elegant, and the terrace and spa make it a strong pick for two people who want views and rest.
