Bermuda holidays: pink beaches, St George's and when to go

Pink sand, pastel houses with white roofs and British calm in the middle of the Atlantic. Bermuda is not the Caribbean, and that is exactly what makes it special.

Bermuda at a glance

The sand at Horseshoe Bay is faintly pink, coloured by crushed shells of tiny organisms on the reef. Behind the beach are pastel houses with white, stepped roofs that collect rainwater. Bermuda is a British Overseas Territory in the Atlantic, around 1,000 kilometres east of the US coast, far north of the Caribbean.

The currency is the Bermudian dollar, at par with the US dollar. For more of the region, see our Americas travel guide.
