Where to stay in Saint-Tropez: the best hotels in town, by the beaches and in the hills
Early in the morning, before the harbour fills up, Saint-Tropez is a small fishing town again. Where you stay decides which side of it you get.

Getting there
The nearest major airport is Nice. From there it is about two hours by car to Saint-Tropez, longer on summer weekends when the coast road is jammed. In summer there are also boats from Saint-Raphaël and Sainte-Maxime, among other places. Read more about the French Riviera by train.
Good to know
Saint-Tropez is a seasonal town. Many hotels and restaurants close from November to March, and in July and August both prices and traffic peak. May, June and September bring warm weather and more space.
Airelles Château de la Messardière, the hotel from The White Lotus season 4, sits on a hill between the town and the beaches. Read more in our guide to White Lotus season 4.
One caveat: without a car it is awkward to get between the beaches and the town, and parking in the centre is expensive in summer.
Frequently asked questions about hotels in Saint-Tropez
Where is the best place to stay in Saint-Tropez?
For a first visit the old town is best, since the harbour, Place des Lices and the restaurants are all within walking distance. The three hotels we recommend in the old town are all there. If you want the beach close by, stay towards Pampelonne and Les Salins, and for views and quiet, several hotels sit in the hills of Gassin.
When is the best time to visit Saint-Tropez?
Early summer and September are the best times, with warm weather and fewer crowds than in July and August. Many hotels and restaurants close in winter, and the season usually runs from April to October. The Cannes Film Festival in May also makes the whole coast busier than usual.
How do you get to Saint-Tropez?
Most people fly to Nice and drive on along the coast, a trip of about two hours, longer on busy summer days. In summer there are also boats from Saint-Raphaël and Sainte-Maxime, among other places. Saint-Tropez has no major airport, so a car or a boat is the usual way in.
Which Saint-Tropez hotel is in The White Lotus?
Airelles Château de la Messardière is the main hotel in season 4 of The White Lotus, which premieres in the first half of 2027. The hotel sits on a hill between the town and the beaches. Hôtel Martinez in Cannes also features in the season, and both are covered in our season 4 guide.
