Which suite to book
Arctic TreeHouse Suite, double or twin (about 27 m², up to 2 people): the signature room, with a full-width window looking out into the forest. Also available with a kitchenette.
Arctic Scene Executive Suite: a larger suite for couples who want more space than the standard TreeHouse Suite.
Arctic GlassHouse (about 50 m², up to 6): the hotel's largest option, with its own sauna and fireplace. The best choice for a family or a group.
Every suite has an en-suite bathroom with a rain shower and underfloor heating.
Our advice: the standard TreeHouse Suite is small, and the window is the point of it. If you are travelling with children or want a sauna, book the GlassHouse instead.
The northern lights and Santa
The suites face the forest through a wall of glass, so on a clear night with an active aurora you can watch from inside. The hillside is darker than the village below, but you are still close to the lights of Santa Claus Village. The sky is not as dark as at resorts further out. Santa Claus's office, the Arctic Circle and SantaPark are a short drive or a walk down the hill. On site, you can try sledging, snowshoeing and ice skating.
Eating: Rakas Restaurant serves Scandinavian food made with northern ingredients, and breakfast is included.

Our recommendation
Arctic TreeHouse Hotel: a glass wall in the forest

What Picolo would choose
What Picolo would choose: an Arctic TreeHouse Suite for a couple, and the Arctic GlassHouse for a family or friends who want a private sauna and a fireplace.
Why: no other hotel in Rovaniemi gives you a design suite with a glass wall facing the forest this close to Santa Claus Village and the airport. Breakfast is included.
The trade-off: the standard suites are small, and the sky is lighter than at resorts outside town. For a family on a budget, Santa Claus Holiday Village gives more space, and for the darkest sky, Apukka Resort is the better choice.
