Michelin restaurants in Copenhagen 2026: the stars, and how to get a table

Three restaurants with three stars, four with two and a city with 31 stars in total. Copenhagen is the Michelin capital of the Nordics, and in 2026 it gained a new three-star restaurant. Here are the starred restaurants, how to get a table and where to stay.

It takes four hours, maybe five. The menu arrives in waves, from snacks eaten with your fingers to dishes assembled with tweezers, and the wine list is as thick as a book. Copenhagen has long been the Michelin capital of the Nordics, and in 2026 the city gained a third three-star restaurant. But you do not need to book six months ahead to experience Michelin Copenhagen. There are starred restaurants serving lunch, and places in the guide that cost a fraction of the price.

The three with three stars

Geranium: on top of the football stadium

Rasmus Kofoed, the chef behind Geranium, is the only person to have won gold, silver and bronze at the Bocuse d’Or. The restaurant sits on the eighth floor of the national stadium, Parken, overlooking Fælledparken, and was the first in Denmark to earn three stars.

Good to know: Østerbro. Book several months ahead.

Jordnær: seafood north of the city

Eric Kragh Vildgaard’s restaurant is in Gentofte, around ten kilometres north of the centre, and is known for luxurious produce from the sea, served with classical restraint.

Good to know: Gentofte, by taxi or train from the centre.

Kadeau: Bornholm in the middle of the city

Kadeau opened in Copenhagen in 2011 as the younger sibling of the original restaurant on Bornholm. It won its first star in 2013, its second in 2018 and its third in 2026. Much of its produce still comes from the island.

Good to know: Wildersgade in Christianshavn.

Four with two stars

Alchemist: dinner as performance

Rasmus Munk’s Alchemist on Refshaleøen is more experience than dinner, with around fifty courses served under a dome that resembles a planetarium. Clear the whole evening.

Good to know: Refshaleøen.

Koan: Korean memories, Nordic produce

Kristian Baumann won two stars just months after Koan opened in 2023. The menu takes flavours and techniques from Korea and turns them into a Nordic tasting menu, in a room on the harbourfront.

Good to know: On the harbour.

AOC and Kong Hans Kælder: beneath old vaults

Two of the city’s most classic starred restaurants sit in historic cellars in the centre. Kong Hans Kælder is known for its Gothic vaults, while AOC pairs Nordic produce with a deep, elegant wine cellar.

Good to know: Both in the city centre.

The new stars of 2026

Three restaurants that all opened in 2025, akmē, Lille Mølle and ESSE, won their first star in 2026. The city now has fourteen one-star restaurants, among them Marchal at Hotel d’Angleterre, Formel B, Alouette and Søllerød Kro.

How to get a table

  • Book early: The most popular places open bookings months ahead, and tables go fast.

  • Try lunch: Several starred restaurants serve lunch, often simpler and cheaper than dinner.

  • Join the waiting list: Many restaurants keep one for cancellations.

  • Clear the evening: A tasting menu at a three-star restaurant takes four hours or more.

Michelin without the star price

To taste Michelin Copenhagen without paying for a tasting menu, look for restaurants with a Bib Gourmand, Michelin’s mark for good food at a reasonable price. See also our guide to the best restaurants in Copenhagen, where several places are in the Michelin Guide.
