That is exactly what makes it an underrated month to travel: half term is over, festive prices have not kicked in, and some of the best winter sun destinations are just coming into season.

How to choose a November sun holiday
Start with how much time you have. The Canaries and Cape Verde give you sunshine with little or no time difference and suit a long weekend or a week. Dubai, Oman and Egypt are at their best in November, with warm days and none of the searing summer heat. For tropical warmth and properly warm seas you need to go further, and November marks the start of the best season in several places.

The flight is around four hours, the weather is mild all winter, and in November there is still plenty of room on the beaches before the Christmas crowds arrive. Luxor is best in winter. In November the days are warm and dry, and it is comfortable to walk among the columns of Karnak or down into the tombs of the Valley of the Kings, which is hard work in the summer heat.

On Thailand’s west coast the rainy season winds down in November, and the dry season takes over with sunshine, warm seas and calm evenings. By the end of the month, Phuket is heading into its best time of year.
Banyan Tree Phuket is known for its villas with private pools, spread around the lagoons at Bang Tao. The beach is a few minutes away, but it is easy to stay in the garden with a book and the pool to yourself.
