Experienced travellers and those seeking luxury travel have previously looked down on the all-inclusive concept. The reason is that if you eat and drink in one place, might you not then miss out on freedom, choice, and local experiences?

But this way of thinking is now changing. Travelling to a destination where you get everything in one place is an emerging trend in travel. And smart hotels are embracing the demand, according to CN Traveller.

Hotels that did not invest in all-inclusive at all now offer everything from 3-course meals and yoga classes to free diving lessons and other activities included in the price of your stay.

"These newer and smarter hotel stays aren't necessarily among the most affordable, but as we have all become more aware of how we spend our money, this is a trend that makes the cost of the holiday more transparent. In addition, it will be easier to save up for your well-deserved holidays, because you will not get any surprises," editor Sarah James told CN Traveller.

Turquoise waters, white sandy beaches, coral reefs, jaw dropping nature experiences, delicious breakfast buffets and tempting restaurants in the evenings - all this and more included in the price. Picolo.com has found hotels that fulfil just these travel dreams.

Here are eight all-inclusive resorts you won't want to return home from:

All inclusive in Paris

The hotel Les Maisons de Campagne believes that everyone's dream is to have their own house in the countryside. But do you really want all the work that comes with owning such a house? It therefore offers idyllic country houses for big city dwellers who wish to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Their two properties, a manor home and a castle, no less, are just over an hour's drive outside Paris, France.

The hotel has recently launched a luxurious all-inclusive package, which includes accommodation, all drinks (from the first cup of coffee of the day to the very last cocktail of the evening), and, of course, every meal. The kitchen offers homemade French cuisine based on excellent, locally sourced ingredients.

Les Maisons de Campagne also has activities included, including yoga, boot camp, and bike rides. For the little ones, the hotel has everything from a cinema to a games room and offers camping trips under the stars.

All inclusive in Cancún

The Grand Oasis hotel in Cancún, Mexico is located on the beach and is a luxurious resort for families with children, adults (with adult only areas), and those who want a little VIP treatment.

The hotel has a large swimming pool surrounded by palm trees and sun loungers. For the active there are opportunities for tennis, yoga classes or simply working out on your own in the gym.

For families with children, there is a separate "Hippie chic beach club" on the beach adapted for children aged five to 12 years. The children's club is located on the beach and is open from morning to afternoon.

For those who want to be surrounded by adults only, there is a separate adult only section, as well as an area called "Oh! Beach club" with large sun loungers, smaller and more private swimming pools, and dining. The all-inclusive hotel has eight restaurants serving both Japanese and Mexican cuisine, as well as general international cuisine. You will also find nine bars in total distributed throughout the resort. All in all, this is a hotel that has everything for everyone!

All inclusive in The Bahamas

Small Hope Bay Lodge has been named one of the best hotels by TripAdvisor's travellers in 2022. This is a place for environmentally conscious ecotourists, and a destination where you will find the real Bahamas. You stay close to nature and have direct access to the beach.

However, the most unique thing here is the snorkelling and diving opportunities, regardless of whether you are a beginner or a far more experienced diver. Here, you will find the Andros Barrier Reef, the third largest coral reef in the world. In addition, there are several shipwrecks, shallow reefs, and fantastic coral formations in the sea close to the hotel.

The all-inclusive packages include all meals, free dive training, bike hire, and even childcare during dinner if you're travelling with young children.

All inclusive in Costa Rica

At Lapa Rios Lodge, you stay in the middle of the rainforest and will most likely see monkeys, sloths, geckos, and butterflies. And you will probably get to experience the lapa, a long-tailed and colourful parrot species after which the resort is named. You can choose from three types of accommodation: villas, suites, and bungalows. No matter how you choose to stay, you're surrounded by green plants and palm trees, can breathe in the scents of the rainforest and sea breeze, and have views of the Pacific Ocean and beautiful sunsets.

But what about the food?

"The food was very good, and everything was local and sustainable. All food (except alcohol) is included in your stay. The quality was very good," wrote a guest on the hotel's website.

The lodge is located on the Osa Peninsula, which is in the south of Costa Rica. You can get there by flying to San José and then on to Puerto Jiménez, from which it is a 45-minute drive to Lapa Rios Lodge.

All inclusive in Mauritius

At the resort, you will find two pools and a spa, and activities including cooking classes, snorkelling, and windsurfing. You can also choose from several restaurants. Mauritius's renowned fishing traditions are fortunately alive and well and you can enjoy both freshly caught fish and shellfish.

All inclusive in Hawaii

Picolo.com has previously written about The Four Seasons Resort Maui, which was where the first season of the HBO Max series The White Lotus was filmed. Located near the beach, the hotel has 380 rooms and suites, three pools, three restaurants, three golf courses and a spa, and even has its own art museum.

Hawaii generally has some of the world's most luxurious hotels, and a good selection of all-inclusive stays.

More dream accommodation is available at the Fairmont Kea Lani Maui Villa Experience on Wailea, Maui. The hotel is only a short distance from the beach, spa and swimming pool, and you can also reserve your very own luxury villa with two or three bedrooms, which is perfect for groups travelling together. The villas have their own pool and garden and fully equipped kitchens.

However, note the following: If you are on holiday in Mexico, the Caribbean or Europe, for example, all meals are usually included when you book all inclusive, but this is not necessarily the case in Hawaii. Here, you may be able to include spa access, fitness classes, and activities in the price of your stay, but all meals may in some cases not be included. You should therefore make sure to check what is actually included in an all inclusive package before booking a trip to scenic Hawaii.

All inclusive in Tulum

Mexico is a favourite destination for Americans, but if you want to get a little further away from the popular resort of Cancún and the party life in Playa del Carmen, you should head to hip Tulúm. Here, travellers will find peace among the palm trees and white sandy beaches. Tulúm is for those who want to eat local tacos and drink cold Cerveza Tulum beer.

To truly experience the vibe, stay at the family-owned and intimate eco-retreat Luv Tulum. The retreat has 12 rooms and cabins right by the sea. The restaurant uses local produce, and the fruit is grown by farmers in the surrounding area. You'll also find hammocks on the terrace and white, double sun loungers on the beach. Put your phone aside and enjoy the tranquillity of paradise.
