What to eat for lunch or dinner is an eternal subject of discussion when one is on holiday. Should you go for the local cuisine or is something international more tempting? A good pasta dish or a pizza with a crispy crust. We've talked to the locals and found some Italian favourites in Amsterdam.

La Perla

A small but delicious menu is the best way to describe this small Italian restaurant about ten to fifteen minutes' walk from Dam Platz. La Perla serves tasty, homemade pasta and assorted antipasti, but it's their large selection of delicious red and white pizzas that has made them a local favourite. Its reputation for tasty pizza makes it a popular place and it's recommended to book in advance.

Address: Tweede Tuindwarsstraat 53.

Fa. Pekelhaaring

The Italian kitchen offers more than just pasta and pizza, and local favourite Fa. Pekelhaaring knows how to showcase its delicious variety.

Here you will not find any pizza, but rather more traditional Italian fare from the countryside, with chicken, veal and cheeses on the menu. That said, the kitchen likes to mix these items with local ingredients. The mix has been a hit with guests and reviewers alike, and Fa. Pekelhaaring has been awarded a Bib Gourmand by the Michelin Guide.
